Called to Serve

It is a firm conviction of Lanesville Church that we are called to grow. Christian life is not just fire insurance, or a one-time prayer. Jesus has come that we might have life and more life than we have had before (John 10:10). Life is an exciting journey of experiencing more life the more we grow in our knowledge and commitment to Jesus Christ. We do this by learning the Scriptures and hiding the truth of God's beautiful character in our heart.

We also do this by finding a place to commit and serve throughout the year. And so Lanesville Church is committed to being a place that facilitates places to serve. As a Congregational church, you are the church. Everything here is done by the people. Yet, the real reason to serve and the real reason God invites us into service isn't because He couldn't do it all Himself but because He wants us to grow through serving others.

All this month, every September, we are called to prayerfully consider where God is calling you to serve this coming year. Look at the above list. What a beautiful list of Christ's body at work on Cape Ann. As the church compiled this year's list, I was so encouraged and grateful to see all the different ways God is using this community right here in Lanesville, to be a blessing to each other, to our neighborhoods, and to the world. We have a dedicated sign-up page for where you can answer God's call here: https://www.lanesville.church/called-to-serve.

God has made each of us differently, but equally valuable and crucial to the health of the body the Church. "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work" (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).

That means God is inviting you to grow, not just by being served, but by also serving. You have something to offer, here at Lanesville!
